Former War Bonnet Lodge After

The Former War Bonnet Lodge is located at 2401 Southeast Boundary Street in Browning, Montana on the Blackfeet Reservation. This property is located in Glacier County, Montana. It is bound to the east of Highway 2 and to the north and south by residences and the Blackfeet Community College.

The former War Bonnet Lodge was developed in 1969 or 1970 with a hotel and restaurant. It covered a parcel of land that covered approximately 2 acres of land in the area where it is now a vacant building.

The subject property contains a two-story hotel structure with an attached bar and restaurant facility. The onsite structure is wood-framed and sided with painted wood-panels and brick. The roof is built up with tar and other materials. The entrance to the hotel and restaurant is on the north side of the building near the west end. The entrance opens to a lobby and main desk. The hotel has approximately 20 rooms per floor for a total of approximately 40 rooms. About one-third of the rooms appear to be recently re-modeled. Utility chases containing water mains are located in trenches below the main level. Wood structural support beams were observed in the utility trench. Laundry, maintenance and supply rooms were also observed in the hotel room area. A commercial kitchen, store rooms and maintenance closets were observed in the restaurant and bar area.

The environmental concern at this site consists of asbestos containing materials.
